Cancio Tough on Crime

TO REVERSE RISE IN CRIME, CANCIO TO PURSUE PROP 47 REPEAL

NORWALK, CA—Democrat, decorated combat veteran, college professor, businessman and school board member, Dr. Roberto “Rob” Cancio today pledged to introduce legislation to repeal Proposition 47, which was passed in 2014, to enhance public safety in local communities, if elected.

“Prop 47, the so-called ‘Safe Neighborhoods and Schools Act’ has produced neither safer neighborhoods nor safer schools,” said Dr. Cancio. “Our streets feel more dangerous and parents worry about whether their kids will make it safely home with all the violence we’ve seen locally, including the park shooting in Cerritos two days ago.

“The elitist politicians and activists who think a hug can cure what ails hardened criminals asked for a chance to show their world view could work,” Cancio continued. “It hasn’t. Crime is rampant and it’s time the politicians admit their mistake and repeal Prop 47.

“I will introduce legislation to repeal Prop 47 on day one.”

Dr. Cancio is a product of local Southeast LA schools

,a graduate of UC Berkeley, and received his PhD from the University of Miami. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy, and served honorably as a cryptologist and seeing combat in Iraq.
